Being an active member of the community is important to me. One way I do this is attending not for profit events and volunteering my time. Last weekend I attended an event for Safe Shelter of St Vrain Valley. The event was a progressive dinner followed by a fabulous desert buffet. Some of the attendees dressed in costume to celebrate Halloween. A few photos are below.
Safe Shelter’s mission statement is “Safe Shelter provides safety, support and resources to individuals affected by domestic abuse. We promote empowerment through direct services and community education, advocating for the right of every individual to live a life free of intimidation, exploitation and abuse.” They provide the city of Longmont with a important service .
In my former life (back when I was single and lived in South Florida) I started a chapter of Single Volunteers which exposed me to so many agencies and I learned how much they rely on the community for support. I encourage you to find the cause that is near and dear to your heart and support them.
