Happy Birthday To Me

In celebration of my birthday today I am posting photos from my first 2 birthdays. I totally don’t remember these days but the photos tell the story - the same cake with different frosting, the single candle on one and the big number 2 on the other, my mother proudly displaying me and her set up of fancy matched plates and glasses, my cousin in the background waiting for me to blow out the candle so they can get their cake. These photos are my memories of my first 2 birthdays.

I don’t know if having a birthday the week after Thanksgiving is a blessing or curse. Another year has passed for me and it is always at the beginning of the holiday season and the end of the year, because of this my birthday always set off a season of reflection for me.  I’ll be thinking a lot about these photo memories and my life in the coming weeks - reviewing the past and planning for the future.  Does this time of year cause you to reflect too?

We have a New Logo

I am happy to announce our new logo!

I’ve been working on this project for a few months and am thrilled to unveil the new design. A logo is the main item that defines a company and becomes a recognizable symbol of that entity. I wanted something that represented who we are at JSP. My old logo was OK but something I threw together myself. The new logo was designed with the help of Anne at AG Creative Design and she did a fantastic job. The new logo is elegant, classic, and calming. It also contains the blue flower in the design which is an important symbol for me.

Blue Flowers are very rare and were a popular motif of Romantic poetry. The hero of Novalis’ novel “Heinrich von Ofterdingen” (1802) dreams of a blue flower instilling momentous yearning in his soul. Novalis’ poetic symbolism of the color blue is perceived by the reader intuitively: thinking of the color blue brings about a dreamlike yearning and produces both a feeling of calmness and of security.   Blue Flowers are also a symbol of valued friendship.

So without further ado, I present our new logo - drum roll please…..

Leonids Viewing Tonight

Steve and I were sitting in the hot tub last night and witnessed lots of shooting stars.  We looked online and found out early this morning was prime leonid meteor shower viewing.  According to the online report the bright moon only allowed us to see the brightest of the meteors but we still got a good show and plan to watch again tonight.  So grab a bottle of wine, get outside and spend some time with your loved ones watching this annual event.

David Austin Cut Roses

Imagine styling your wedding flowers after an enchanting English rose garden.   English garden roses are naturally elegant.  They evoke dreamy romance and are full of seductive fragrance.  And David Austin roses are the most beautiful.    David Austin English Roses are now available through select designers to create a stunning display .   I had to share this link with all the brides (and rose gardeners) out there.  The English roses are my absolute favorite in my garden and these flowers are perfect for a garden inspired wedding.   Visit the David Austin site for inspiration or visit my garden next summer.

Slideshow - Estes Park Elopement

As promised last week here are more photos from Tessa and Robert’s elopement in Estes Park. This wasn’t your ordinary elopement - Tessa and Robert did it right. They reserved Mary’s Lake Lodge and decorated the wedding arch with lovely flowers. Rose petals lined the path to the arch and Tessa’s red rose bouquet was simply stunning. Tessa was just gorgeous in her gown and Robert was dapper in his tux. After the ceremony we took some portraits of the bride and groom.

I am excite to post this. All of my 2009 brides will receive an online slideshow with their wedding collections. Tessa an Robert, since I need to practice using the program, you get to be my first slideshow. The song that is playing is called Sunkissed and that is how I felt about Tessa and Robert’s portraits. I got some wonderful sun flare in several images and many of the photos just look like the sun is kissing them on their wedding day.

Congratulations and enjoy the slideshow!

Estes Park Family Photos

As promised here are more photos from my day with Anika in Estes Park.  It was a cool and breezy day, we even got a little bit of snow (that is the white flakes you see in a few pictures) but Anika and her mom were ready for anything.  Anika even shared some of her mellows with me (yummy mini marshmellows).

Enjoy the photos!

Anika in Estes Park

I spent a cool and breezy afternoon with Anika in Estes Park. She had the most beautiful red curls and bright blue eyes. She is definitely going to be a heart breaker. This is my favorite photo. More will be posted soon.
