Happy Birthday To Me

In celebration of my birthday today I am posting photos from my first 2 birthdays. I totally don’t remember these days but the photos tell the story – the same cake with different frosting, the single candle on one and the big number 2 on the other, my mother proudly displaying me and her set up of fancy matched plates and glasses, my cousin in the background waiting for me to blow out the candle so they can get their cake. These photos are my memories of my first 2 birthdays.

I don’t know if having a birthday the week after Thanksgiving is a blessing or curse. Another year has passed for me and it is always at the beginning of the holiday season and the end of the year, because of this my birthday always set off a season of reflection for me.  I’ll be thinking a lot about these photo memories and my life in the coming weeks – reviewing the past and planning for the future.  Does this time of year cause you to reflect too?

We have a New Logo

I am happy to announce our new logo!

I’ve been working on this project for a few months and am thrilled to unveil the new design. A logo is the main item that defines a company and becomes a recognizable symbol of that entity. I wanted something that represented who we are at JSP. My old logo was OK but something I threw together myself. The new logo was designed with the help of Anne at AG Creative Design and she did a fantastic job. The new logo is elegant, classic, and calming. It also contains the blue flower in the design which is an important symbol for me.

Blue Flowers are very rare and were a popular motif of Romantic poetry. The hero of Novalis’ novel “Heinrich von Ofterdingen” (1802) dreams of a blue flower instilling momentous yearning in his soul. Novalis’ poetic symbolism of the color blue is perceived by the reader intuitively: thinking of the color blue brings about a dreamlike yearning and produces both a feeling of calmness and of security.   Blue Flowers are also a symbol of valued friendship.

So without further ado, I present our new logo – drum roll please…..

Leonids Viewing Tonight

Steve and I were sitting in the hot tub last night and witnessed lots of shooting stars.  We looked online and found out early this morning was prime leonid meteor shower viewing.  According to the online report the bright moon only allowed us to see the brightest of the meteors but we still got a good show and plan to watch again tonight.  So grab a bottle of wine, get outside and spend some time with your loved ones watching this annual event.
