I had time to get in one more wedding workshop so on Monday I spent the day learning from the talented Denver photographer Travis Broxton. Travis has been photographing weddings for many years and shared so much knowledge plus he had a great personality so listening to him was fun. We spent the morning in class and then the afternoon photographing some beautiful brides. I find myself observing a lot during these photo sessions, I love watching other photographers work and when the instructor isn’t ‘teaching’ but just photographing along with us I find some great tips that I can bring back for my brides. I also try to take advantage of these bridal photo sessions by challenging myself. I get overwhelmed when there are lots of other photographers shooting so I try to step back and find creative perspectives, plus I only use one lens for the entire seession Usually I’ll pick a new lens – but I don’t have a new lens so I pulled out my Nikon 85mm which I typically only use for portraits.
Here are a couple of images from the day.
I took the second photo through a window – the patio was a full of other photographers from the class so I got creative and found this angle. The window reflections added a little interest to the image.

Another interesting angle for a basic bridal photo. I thought the reflections in the water were fun. I saw another photographer at WPPI using water to get interesting reflections so I’ve had my eyes open for his opportunity since then.
