Keeping with the theme of the past couple weeks here is another moment when Karin and Dan left their charming wedding in Ryssby Church.  Dan just lightly pulled Karin’s hand and they leaned in for a sweet kiss.  Totally spontaneous and simple.

Of course from my perspective I was practically running after them and praying I didn’t trip because I had a camera in front of my face and could not see the stairs out of the church and trying not to get too close to them  and wondering what they were going to do and getting my camera setting right because the settings outside are different then inside the church….  Then doing internal happy dances because this was so sweet.  But that is why I love wedding photography, I never know what to expect and am thrilled at the beautiful intimate moments I witness.

Vanessa’s dress was spectacular…

The Greenbriar Inn is a lovely spot for a ceremony.

My favorite part is following the couple immediately after they leave the ceremony.  I get some wonderful moments…

AJ and Vanessa snuck outside to practice their first dance one last time.  They were having so much fun.

I was privileged to have John Hudetz as my second photographer.  He was wonderful to work with and got these fantastic photos of Eric and his groomsmen out on Folsom Field.  It looks like they had a blast and I was so happy to have a male eye for these.

Back in the bride’s dressing room, right after Julia’s father saw her I saw this moment.

There were a couple adorable flowergirls in this wedding.  This little one decided not to walk down the aisle….

I loved this moment at Sean and Jocelyn’s Boulder wedding.  It was right outside of  The Kitchen restaurant immediately after their wedding ceremony.  They were waiting for Jocelyn’s dad to bring the car around as we were heading back to the ST. Julien for portraits.  Sean was wrapping Jocelyn’s mink shall around her on this cold December day.  I love the intimacy and the joy and the love in this moment.

This week’s moment to remember is a little different.  First you may notice this is not a wedding photo.  My job is to record life’s moments.  95% of the time those are happy moments – weddings, the birth of a child, high school graduation.  But occasionally I am called to record a not so happy but very important moment – end of life.   Cathy was diagnosed with the ‘c’ word a year and a half ago and called me for a photography session with her family before she began chemo.  She wanted her family to remember her as she was before she became really ill.  Last week I got the call from her son that Cathy lost her battle.  I decided to remember this moment between Cathy and her husband on that winter day before Christmas.  They were both being so brave as their emotion was just below the surface.  But I knew they wanted to remember happy times so  I was using all my corny jokes to get Cathy to relax in front of the camera.  I loved this image and the  laugh they shared.  Cathy, you will be missed.

This week’s moment to remember is from Breanne and Nate’s gorgeous wedding in Boulder.   This moment was at the beginning of the day as Breanne was getting ready.  We were in a suite at the Millennium Hotel and I was photographing Breanne’s preparations when I noticed her sister and mom on the other side of the room secretly collaborating.  Breanne’s sister was sharing her maid of honor speech with her mom and they were just laughing and having a great time – I had to get the moment.  This was one of many special moments from this wedding and when Breanne’s mom included an image from this series in her photo order after the wedding I was thrilled.
