With our headquarters located in the San Francisco Bay Area, and a nationwide network of volunteers and supporters, we serve those in the greatest need around the country. We receive no state or federal funding, relying instead on the generosity of our supporters to fulfill Wish requests.  Wish Upon a Wedding was founded in San Francisco, CA, in January of 2010. America’s ONLY wedding wish granting organization, WUW will begin accepting applications for wishes on February 14, 2010. WUW anticipates granting dozens of wishes per year, with the possibility of that number turning into hundreds.

I hope the holidays were super spectacular for you.  Are you ready for 2010?  I am slowly getting into the post holiday routine again.  My new year’s resolution is to continue providing heartfelt imagery and personal, first class service for you.  2010 promises to be a fantastic year and I’m looking forward to working with my awesome clients again and meeting all of the new JSP brides and parents this year.  Stay tuned to the blog – I will have Joselyn and Sean’s beautiful Boulder wedding posted next week as well as some new family portraits.

I hope this message finds you surrounded by loved ones and eating lots of yummy food.  On this Thanksgiving Day I am most thankful for you..  The readers of my blog and all of my super, wonderful clients.  Without your smiling, happy faces there would be no images to create and I thank each of you for inviting me into your homes and to your wedding to share in these special moments.  I truely am privileged and blessed to know you.

How would you like this as the entrance to your artist studio?

One stop in town was Birddog Press.   You know I love a business that is inspired by the family dog, but I also love that Alli uses a 100 year old letter press to create gorgeous custom invitations and stationary for your wedding.

Next stop was in Apple Valley.  This is one of my favorites places.  The garden and the mosaic art by Margit Percival is stunning.  I had to get a photo of the gator for me (University of Florida) and the turtle for Steve (University of Maryland).  And of course the shoe recliner (Schumacher).

Another stop had multiple artists displaying their creative work.  These ceramic pieces were gorgeous.  Sharon Morris is the artist and she creates functional and decorative pots that invite use and enjoyment on a daily basis – pots that encourage the user to slow down, to enjoy the sensual quality of a hand-made form.    The jewelry is handmade by Amy Craig Designs and is so light and beautiful.   Amy will make custom pieces for your wedding.

Sorry ladies this dress is made of metal (but I’m sure if you showed your seamstress she would create a fabric version for you).  The artist is Anabella’s Statements in Metal and what a statement this beauty would make in your yard.

Next stop is Arcadian Gallery.  Their website calls their furniture “Original artwork disguised as functional furniture.”   Their portfolio is full of exquisite wood furniture and cabinets.

I had to post this creative dog/cat house by Kahlie Sue & Jake Pinella of Through the Looking Glass.

Last stop  was John and Sally King.  I love Sally’s collection of bears and floral paintings and John makes the most amazing kinetic sculptures (you may have seen some of his work in Boulder).  How is that for a view from your backyard?

Some of the friends we made along the way.  We also saw marmot, coyote, elk, billy goats and a grizzly bear (way far away through a scope, which is how I like to see a grizzly bear)

When I was in grade school we had a class projects to write a report and give a presentation about a National Park.   The teacher filled a hat and had us each draw different parks.  I drew Yellowstone and ever since then I’ve always wanted to visit.

Yellowstone was the first national park and is home to an active volcano.  This image explains Yellowstone the best – everything seems normal except for the large steaming hole and boiling hot water streaming out of it  in the middle of the meadow.  There are 10,000 thermal features in the park.

Strange planet or right here on earth?  This image was taken in the Mammoth Hot Springs area in Yellowstone.

And of course we stopped to see Old Faithful.

We also visited Grand Teton National Park.  This is Jenny Lake.

Most of the time we were in Wyoming it was cloudy so the Tetons were covered in clouds.  The final images are some family photos of Sparky on the trail in the National Forest outside of Grand Teton (dogs aren’t allowed on the trails in the park).

Yellowstone is definately a must visit place.  Leave a comment with any questions – I love planning trips.

But before I go I have 2 babies to meet and photograph. I hope to have images posted before I go.
