Welcome 2009!

Wow!  I can’t believe the holidays are over already.  They went by so quickly this year. I hope your holiday season was all you hoped for and more and your 2009 is starting well.  My year is off to a great start.  I have some incredible new family clients and my brides are all unbelievably cool - I can’t wait to work with them.

I haven’t been posting over the holidays but I’ve been busy.  My first project for 2009 is a new website for my family portraits.  My wedding and family portraits are two seperate businesses and I felt my families needed their own portfolio.  So take a look at the new portrait portfolio for maternity, newborn, families, seniors and pets.  JSPfamily.com

I’m totally in love with the song I found for the new portfolio - it’s “Good Life” by Lily Wilson.  It just says what I want to say if I could write like that and I adore artists that make their music available for small businesses like me so go and check her out - maybe we can get her to visit one of the awesome music venues in Lyons.

Watch the blog for some oplove photo shoots I have coming up and if you know anyone that got engaged over the holidays I do have some 2009 dates open and I would love to meet them.

Longmont Senior Photos

Today I got to meet Cody for his High School Senior Photos. We spent the afternoon exploring a park in Lyons. Turns out we both grew up in Florida and Cody wants to go back there for college. Unfortunately, he has chosen the other school. Anyone from Florida is familiar with the in state rivalry between the University of Florida and Florida State. Despite his affiliation with that other school I enjoyed spending time photographing him and chatting about Florida and football. I am jealous though, he has tickets to the big game.

Cody, you are a handsome young man. Enjoy your senior year and have fun at the UF-FSU football game.

GO GATORS!

Enjoy the sneak peak photos.

High School Seniors

When people ask what I do I usually say I photograph people in transition.  People moving from one stage of life to the next fascinate me.  They are so full of hope and well, fear.  Face it, it is scary when you are faced with big changes.  But for me the emotions are at a peak and that is what I look for behind my lens.  The life transitions are obvious when I am photographing a bride and groom or a new mother but we sometimes forget the high school senior.  The high school senior - don’t you hate it when everyone asks “what are you going to do after graduation?”  But you have so many choices and so many hopes and dreams for the future.  I envy you but I don’t want to be in your shoes again.

I got to spend an afternoon with Chloe taking her senior portraits.  A beautiful young woman inside and out.  My favorite photos from the session are below.  Enjoy your senior year.  This is one of the most memorable times of your life.
