Moments to Remember {13}

This week’s moment to remember is from Tania and Adel’s colorful Pakistani wedding. When asked for the most interesting wedding I have photographed I often mention this wedding. The event began with a mehndi party the night before the Christian wedding ceremony. This moment is right before the mehndi party began. Tania had just completed dressing and was waiting to enter the reception room with all the guests. This wedding was just and explosion of color and fun.

Colorado Engagement Photos

I got to spend a beautiful Colorado summer afternoon with one of my awesome wedding couples. I met Aaron and Sierra in Loveland for their engagement photo session. They are getting married at the lovely Della Terra Mountain Chateau in Estes Park and I cannot wait for their wedding. The whole family tagged along for this photo session so we got a couple images with Aaron’s daughter and the dogs too. Enjoy the preview photos!

Denver Engagement Photos

Steve and I met Amelia, Nick, Leroy and Jack at Washington Park in Denver last weekend for their engagement photos. I was happy to meet this entire family and enjoyed hanging out with Amelia and Nick in SOBO for drinks and appetizers after the photos were complete. We found out Nick and Steve both grew up near Baltimore and shared lots of opinions on seafood. We will definitely be inviting you to our Maryland crab fest this summer. I’m looking forward seeing Amelia and Nick again at their wedding at Mary’s Lake Lodge in Estes Park. Stay turned to the blog – this wedding will have a belly dancer…

Leroy and Jack may look like they are posing for me but they are actually staring down a duck or goose.

This next one is my favorite.

Engagement Photos Ft. Collins

Engagement season has begun…. Steve and I met Thad and Jill in Ft. Collins this weekend for a fun engagement photo session. I love getting to know my couples during their engagement session – and they always pick the prettiest places. Thad and Jill are getting married at Aspen Lodge for a gorgeous Estes Park wedding. I cannot wait to get them into the aspen groove there.

Engagement sessions are also opportunities to test out new gear. I was using my new Nikon 24-70 2.8 lens so lots of wide angle shot of beautiful Colorado landscapes. I’m liking how sharp and crisp this lens is…

I’m always open for input from the couple for fun photos. Thad wanted to jump so we got a bunch of funny images.

Eric and Erin’s Wedding Album

I received Eric and Erin’s beautiful wedding album this week. The wedding was held at Red Rocks and the reception in the Sage Room at the Oxford Hotel in Denver. This album is a 10×10 matte black leather with 20 pages. A very classic looking book. JSP wedding albums are flush mount which means the photos cover the entire page. For wedding albums we only use photographic paper (not press printed). The prints are mounted on a rigid board and a coating is applied to protect the photos. Wedding photography is the promise of remembering your wedding day forever and your wedding album is the most elegant way to preserve your memories.

Mehndi Party – Denver Wedding

I’ve been looking forward to sharing Adeel and Tania’s spectacular Pakistani wedding celebration with you. Since this was a multi day event and I want to show you everything I will have to split this into multiple posts. Today, the Mehndi party. This event took place the night before the wedding. It was an explosion of color, joy and happiness. The mehndi party consists of blessings, henna application, dancing and dinner and both the bride and groom attend.

Before the party began, I got a couple photos as Tania got ready.

The stage is ready for the couple to arrive.

First, the groom arrives surrounded by his family and friends carrying a colorful scarf over his head.

After the groom’s ceremonies are complete the bride arrives surrounded by an even larger reception.

The guests approach the couple and offer blessings.

The henna is placed on a leaf and then applied to the hands later.

After the ceremony the dancing began…

It didn’t take long for Tania to join the dancing.

All I can say is wow! I loved photographing Tania and Adeel’s wedding. Watch the blog for the ceremony photos next week and a slideshow with even more of their wedding story.

Red Rocks Wedding: Oxford Hotel Reception

When Eric and Erin emailed to inquiry about their wedding I was in California photographing a beautiful vineyard wedding but I knew I wanted to be a part of their day. The wedding was being held at The Chapel at Red Rocks and the reception was going to be at The Oxford Hotel in Denver – 2 of my favorite places in Denver so I knew it was going to be a beautiful day. When I finally met Eric and Erin I knew we didn’t just book a new client, we just met new friends.

I LOVE lace dresses – I cannot tell you how excited I was to see Erin’s beautiful lace wedding gown and when she pulled out the lace bolero (which if you look closely you can see it in this photo) I knew she was going to be a beautiful bride.

Confirmation of my suspicions – Erin was breathtaking.

We did a few portraits at Red Rocks before the ceremony.

Eric and Erin were so much fun.

Instead of bridesmaids, Erin had 4 flower girls. I loved this photo of their matching shoes while they sat during the ceremony.

I sheepishly admit one of my goals is to make my brides and moms cry when they view the images from their wedding or family portraits. I consider it the highest praise I can get. The images touched them so much they cried tears of joy. Well a card arrived today and one of my brides just made me cry. Dave and Suzanne’s heartfelt thank you touched me and now I guess I have a new goal.
