Fall Engagement in Estes Park

Aspens in all their Fall glory and a beautiful couple made this engagement perfect.  Despite a rain storm right when we were scheduled to begin Serena and Luke hid under the pavilion with me and waited for the Colorado weather to change.  And the saying was right – wait 20 minutes and the weather will change.  We went from a downpour to bright blue skies and rainbows.  I was so excited to see the Aspen in Estes Park changing to their Fall yellows. Fall is my favorite time for photos and Serena and Luke were so much fun to work with.  My favorite photos are below.

Thank you for braving the rain with me.  I enjoyed our time in the park together.  Serena and Luke are getting married next May.  Enjoy this time together planning your wedding – it will be beautiful.

Engagement Photos at Wild Basin Lodge

When a place is beautiful for a wedding chances are it is also a great place to take engagement photos. And this weekend I was very grateful to Allison and Marc at Wild Basin Lodge in Allenspark  for allowing us to use their gorgeous lodge and meadow for Karin and Dan’s engagement photos. It was a little windy and cold so having the cozy lodge with a roaring fireplace was very welcome – oh, and the hot cocoa helped too. But the winds didn’t last long and it turned into a breathtaking and warm afternoon. Steve and I had so much fun with Karin and Dan we cannot wait for their wedding. And I cannot wait to tell you the story behind the little chapel they chose for their wedding – but you have to wait until the Fall to get that story…

On to the images…

The happy family.  Yes, I love them more because they brought Kona along.  Kona was very instrumental in the actual engagement.  Dan slipped the ring onto Kona’s collar for Karin to discover.  So we had to have Kona join us.

Dan’s assignment before the wedding is to practice whispering sweet nothings into Karin’s ear…

Kona just loved the snow.  I think Karin and Dan are holding his head up because he just wanted to roll in the snow.

Best of Engagements Winner

I had to share  – I won my first competition!  I submitted one of the top 20 engagement images of 2008 in the modern photographers contest.  I don’t usually enter competitions but decided – what the heck.  So I was scrolling through the winning  images today – all by some amazing and talented photographers – and imagine my surprise  when I recognized my image.  Thank you so much for this honor and thank you Lacey and Tim for being so beautiful that day.
